Achieving zero emissions

Our vision is to achieve real zero carbon emissions by 2050 without the use of offsets. We will do this in two ways: boost energy efficiency and increase the use of renewable energy. We are working to improve energy efficiency throughout our global operations, which will reduce our environmental impact, energy costs and the strain on the energy supply chain. As we cut our energy consumption, we will reduce our use of fossil fuels and increase the proportion of renewables.

Our history of carbon reduction

Since the end of the last century, Roche has been working towards a low-carbon future. Roche’s long-term goal is to reduce emissions from owned or controlled sources or from the generation of purchased energy to zero by 2050. Since 2004 we have been implementing carbon dioxide reduction measures that have led to a combined over 70% decrease in tons of carbon dioxide per employee.

Emissions to Air and to Water

Reducing emissions to air and water is a Group-wide goal for minimizing the environmental impacts of our operations.
